Horse & Hound is offering you the chance to enjoy a special Easter treat at the British Open Show Jumping Championships (3-6 April, 2008).

We have a pair of VIP tickets to the daytime performance on Thursday 3 April 2008 and the lucky winner will be taken on a backstage tour to see what goes on behind the scenes. Ten runners-up will each win a pair of standard Thursday tickets, which cover both the afternoon and evening performances.

World-class riders from Britain and abroad have been invited to compete in this year’s competition, which kicks off on Thursday evening. Leading lady rider, Jessica Kurten, who is currently ranked first in Ireland and fifth in the world, will return to defend her title as the 2007 British Open Show Jumping Champion. Two further rounds will be held on Friday and Saturday, after which the top 20 riders will go forward to contest Sunday’s final.

Other show jumping classes include the accumulator, the British Open Speed Stakes and the World Class Development Programme Championship 2008, with the crowd-pleasing puissance on Saturday evening.

The popular British Open Indoor Cross Country will take place during Friday and Saturday afternoon. Leading eventers, including BBC Sports Personality 2006 Zara Phillips, will be invited to tackle a series of bespoke cross-country fences in this unique competition.

Aside from first class competition, the British Open is proud to present a broad spectrum of equestrian entertainment including scurry driving, the UK’s highest goal arena polo competition, high-speed barrel racing and a graceful freestyle to music dressage display.

This year will see the return of movie stuntman, Daniel Naprous and his team, who will demonstrate their trademark daredevil tricks and aerobatics, providing an interesting contrast to displays of Parelli Natural Horsemanship set to music.

With more than 100 stands, there is plenty to satisfy shopaholics, with many opportunities to meet the stars of the show with daily rider signings by top riders.

“Contender ready? Gladiator ready!” Remember those celebrated words? Well prepare yourselves for the ultimate TV revival as the unmissable ’90s TV sensation Gladiators returns to British screens with a 21st-century makeover in May 2008, exclusively on Sky One.
